Joining is Free. Borrowing books is Free. You can borrow up to 20 items for up to 3 weeks. Videos and CDs can be borrowed for 1 week and there is a small charge

Public libraries have become an integral part of the community, becoming the nation's fourth most popular pastime, and nearly 60% of the population hold membership.

Ferring library was in danger of being closed down at one time and was only saved by public protest, which was quite ferocious!

Interesting facts:

	The service costs 26p per person per week.
	There are 4160 central and branch libraries open to the public.
