REACTIONS
TO THE FERRING HISTORY WEEK The
email below was received from Jim Jenkins, who was born in Ferring
but currently lives in Steyning. Our
thanks for his email - and I hope he tells his brother in South Australia to
keep in touch via this website - that way, if he can't be here, at least he can
keep up-to-date with current events and perhaps browse through the tapestries
and residents' comments. And by
the way, Jim Jenkins' brother, we'd love to hear from you! |

THANK YOU ALL
I would just like to express my thanks to all
those involved in the organisation, preparation and presentation of the Ferring
History Week.
I was fortunate to have been able to attend three events, and only wish I had
known about the event earlier so that I could have participated more. My brother
Tony, who lives in Adelaide, South Australia says he would have come over had he
known in time!
Your events provided a unique opportunity for
former inhabitants to remember their time in Ferring and to meet people they had
lost contact with.
I was born in Ferring in 1934 and my earliest memories were of the 1937
Coronation procession. It was fantastic to see the whole event on Mr Claridge's
film, especially as it included my Dad's lorries.
Please put me on your mailing list. If you produce any publications or archive
videos please let me know.
Thanks again.

Please pass on our thanks to all involved in the Week just
finished. A large & interesting range of exhibits coupled with a
varied & interesting selection of talks, and obviously a lot of hard work
before, during & after by "a small group of friends". Whoever
"found" Mr Claridge & his films is a genius!
We have one gripe though I'm afraid, & that is the running
time & the content of the video. Half an hour would have done more
justice to a village of this size. We felt it would have benefited from the
inclusion of more people (more potential buyers!) and were surprised at some of
the omissions (Library, local businesses & anything north of the railway
line).
One last thought, does the Parish Council have any thoughts on
taking advantage of The West Sussex Gazette's Parish Photo scheme?
We hope that you are all very satisfied with the interest &
community feeling generated during these past few days.
Wendy & Tony Hobden.
